Webinar on the use of Al in education by StrikePlagiarism

Recently, our team took part in an extremely interesting webinar organized by StrikePlagiarism. We focused on new opportunities provided by artificial intelligence (AI) in education and the update of the platform for checking papers for the use of AI, which is quite relevant.
The webinar conducted a survey involving over 260 lecturers and administrators.
Key conclusions from the survey:
🔹The situation with the use of AI: The majority of respondents (53%) said that students do not misuse AI tools. It means that the situation is not critical, but there is still a need to introduce regulations to control the use of AI in the educational process.
🔹Misuse of AI tools: When asked how students misuse AI tools, participants highlighted several common practices:
• Using AI to write term papers, theses, tests, and control papers.
• Using AI to write code or formulas that can lead to incorrect or even absurd results.
• Paraphrasing well-known scientific papers, student papers of previous years, presentations and reports.
• Using AI to draw up a list of references, which can result in falsification of sources.
• Using AI to translate texts.
These findings stress the need to regulate the use of AI at higher education institutions to ensure academic integrity.
🔹Lack of regulations: The vast majority (60%) of higher education institutions do not yet have clear rules or tools to control the use of AI. It creates a risk of uncontrolled use of technology and potential misuse.
🔹Systematic misuse: The survey results reveal the systematic misuse of artificial intelligence tools among students to perform tasks of various levels of complexity.
These trends emphasize the need to introduce clear regulations on the use of AI at higher education institutions, as well as the importance of raising awareness of students and lecturers about ethical aspects of using technology in the educational process.
