On June 23, 2023, the open meeting between members of the working group of the 242 Tourism and Recreation specialty and representatives of Synevyr National Nature Park took place as part of public discussion of draft educational programs for the next academic year (the stakeholder was represented by Yurii Tiukh, the Deputy Director of Scientific Work, Fedir Matichyn, the Head of the Recreation Department, and Mariana Pechkan, a specialist at the environmental education department).
During the collective discussion, Yurii Tiukh stressed that Bachelor students in this educational program can get proper theoretical and special practical training due to the balanced selection of educational components (both compulsory and elective).
According to the Deputy Director, competencies defined by the educational program fully meet the current demands of the labor market for professional training of specialists.
Fedir Matichyn, the Head of the Recreation Department, mentioned prospects of increasing recreational educational components in the program content in order to bring the modern tourist request to the requirements of balanced nature management of each Ukrainian region. As part of the joint discussion, the representative of the stakeholder focused on the further promising possibility of students’ employment at the Park if they have complete higher education (Master’s degree without work experience) or incomplete higher education (Bachelor’s degree with practical work experience of at least 3 years).
Mariana Pechkan, a specialist at the environmental education department, talked about the importance of cross-curricular practical training for the high-quality development of the framework of the educational program. Besides, the expert pointed out typical mistakes made by inexperienced young tourism specialists in their activities.
We express our gratitude to representatives of Synevyr National Nature Park for the extremely fruitful meeting in a business and friendly atmosphere.
