Introduction to Cardiac Ultrasound Training at the European Medical School!We would like to share our impressions from the Saturday training: Introduction to Cardiac Ultrasound led by Vadym Vus, a talented lecturer at the European Medical School, and Nataliia Lytvyn, a cardiologist at the Amosov Institute. This event was organized due to our fruitful cooperation with the ALLM Inc. Japanese Corporation.
Such trainings at IEU in small groups allow everyone to quickly shift from theoretical knowledge to practicing sonographic cardiac sections and understand what to focus on in practical activities. “Unlike ultrasound specialists, it is important for us to clearly formulate the clinical question we expect to be answered and imagine how this will change our technique.”
We use a unique downshifting technique to smoothly shift from expert-class devices to tablet and portable ones. It allows our participants to understand the principles of differences in knobology and not be bound to companies. The first step is GE Logiq, the next one is devices of the French (Sonoscanner) and American (Sonosite) armies, and only then the Sino-French Santé, Taiwanese LESONO, and American Butterfly. It should be noted that we do not have a conflict of interest and provide participants with the opportunity to form their own opinion about the quality of each device.
The training team also recommended experimenting with various sensors: not only phase sensors but also convection and micro-convection sensors.
Two models were invited to the training, which accelerated the acquisition of skills by interns, doctors, and a military doctor. The latter shared his experience of using different types of ultrasound at the front, demonstrated the Eko CORE 500 phonendoscope with the capability of listening even in a car and in the noisy atmosphere of a staging area, and showed the cheapest analog of Holter monitoring. Despite their experience, our lecturers learn new things and communicate on an equal footing with participants, admitting their mistakes and being open to change.
Currently, our trainings are free of charge due to the assistance of the ALLM Inc. Japanese Corporation and the support of the administration of International European University. We only offer to make a donation. On Saturday, we collected 4,600 UAH for various Ukrainian funds. Each donation is a contribution to our victory and support for those on the front line.
