Recently, the Kyiv Science and Innovation Cluster hosted an important meeting bringing together representatives of student scientific societies of the capital’s higher education institutions. IEU students also took part in this constructive discussion. So, we would like to share the key moments!
The main topic of the meeting: the role of scientific student communities in Kyiv development and their active engagement in city policies in such key areas as urban development, transport, ecology, and education. Participants stressed that young scientists can become crucial agents of changes, suggesting new ideas and approaches to addressing the relevant challenges of the megalopolis.
Key suggestions by students:
• Adaptation of the urban environment: creation of green areas and infrastructure development for sustainable transportation to improve the life quality of Kyiv citizens.
• Optimization of transport routes: adoption of eco-friendly means of transport such as electric buses and trams, as well as the introduction of safe conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians.
• Integration of state-of-the-art technologies into the training process: support of interdisciplinary scientific research to develop innovative solutions in various sectors.
Besides, participants discussed the ways of involving students in active public life. It is important for young people to not only study but also to take an active part in the future of their city.
This meeting was a perfect platform for sharing opinions and initiatives, confirming that students can and have to be active participants in the decision-making process.
