IEU representatives visited the University of Lorraine: experience, innovations, and cooperationRecently, Yurii Stepanovskyi, Associate Professor at the IEU’s Department of Pediatrics, Immunology, Infectious and Rare Diseases, and Vice-Rector Tetiana Holub visited one of the leading universities in France where they had the official reception with the Rector and explored advanced educational technologies.
One of the key points of the visit was a simulation training medical center, the Virtual Hospital of Lorraine. It is a unique hospital that uses modern dummies, simulators, and robotic systems instead of real patients.
Why is this center unique?
A team of professionals: lecturers, scientists, engineers, simulation medicine specialists, logisticians, and administrators work as a single mechanism to provide exceptional high-quality training. State-of-the-art technologies: dummies can simulate laryngospasm, trismus, heartbeat, wheezing, changes in blood parameters, as well as respond to actions of students and lecturers. Realistic scenarios: practicing all stages of treatment: from hospitalization, emergency care, and surgery to postoperative care. Training of surgeons: the center offers practical classes in endoscopic interventions, cardiac stent placement, vascular and nerve microsurgery. Robotic surgery: doctors and students are able to practice their skills on Da Vinci, one of the most advanced robotic surgical systems.This center is one of the best medical simulation training facilities in Europe, and we are proud to adopt its experience to develop medical education in Ukraine.
