Day of the State Emblem of Ukraine
Today, on February 19, we celebrate the Day of the State Emblem of Ukraine, one of the main symbols of our statehood, independence, and national identity.
The Trident is not just a sign but a deep code of Ukrainian history, dating back to the times of Kyivan Rus. It symbolizes the strength, unity, and invincibility of our people.
This symbol has passed through centuries, survived prohibitions and oppression, but has endured together with Ukraine. It is a sign of struggle and victory that inspires us to move forward despite all the challenges.
• It first appeared on seals of Prince Volodymyr the Great in the 10th century.
• On February 25, 1918, the Trident was approved as the Coat of Arms of the Ukrainian People’s Republic.
• In 1992, the Ukrainian Parliament officially approved the Trident as the Small State Emblem of Independent Ukraine.
